Cataracts
Cataracts are one of the leading causes of visual impairment.
What is a cataract?
A cataract is the clouding of the normally clear lens. They mostly occur with age, although cataracts can still develop in younger people!
What would I see if I had cataracts?
It can be difficult to notice visual changes with small cataracts.
However, common signs include:
- Blurred vision, especially when its dark
- Glare sensitivity
- Feeling as though you're looking through a curtain/cloudiness
What can be done?
Initially, improvements to vision can be through changing the prescription of glasses, stronger magnification and even increased lighting.
In more advanced cases surgery may be required. If you require surgery we will refer you to an ophthalmologist (eye specialist)!
